“If you think that the internet has changed your life, think again. The IoT is about to change it all over again!”
— Brendan O’Brien, Chief Architect & Co-Founder, Aria Systems
The world is in motion and the faster you adapt the clear life becomes.Take a seat, belt up and welcome to flight #designhub where innovation isn’t magic anymore but a culture. The internet of things.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a buzzword that essentially describes an environment where everything is connected to the internet creating “swarm intelligence” from individually dumb devices. Bins, toasters, roads and lights will be able to talk to each other for automatic, more efficient control and monitoring.
It’s only a dreamer who can visualize this,a bin could tell the council when it is full and needs collecting, rather than just on a set schedule, for instance. A fridge could detect when the milk is empty and order another pint. The central heating system could track its owner and only turn on when they are on their way home. Its a world of new possibilities.According to Samsung, every single product that they will be selling Internet of Things will be possible. And to make this precise , Samsung’s idea is that just about every device you have — and even products like chairs, that you don’t normally expect to see technology in — will be connected and talking to each other. On a basic level, Samsung imagines that you’ll be able to take off your headphones when you arrive home and have the music they were playing automatically start up through your speaker system. But Samsung also sees this connectivity extending outside of the home. When you go up to a digital kiosk, such as a map at a large mall, Samsung imagines that your phone might automatically connect to it and change the graphic’s language to whatever you primarily speak.
